On Sunday, December 18th a group of us drove down to New City Fellowship Church, in Atlantic City, to help bring a little Christmas joy to some of the children. Pastor Santo, of New City Fellowship, has been developing relationships with these children through summer Bible camps and outreaches such as this one, A Christmas of Hope.
Throughout the past month we collected new toys that were donated by many of our friends, family and churches. A total of 75 Christmas bags were then organized for children ages 18 months to 15 yrs. We were all very excited to bring them down on Sunday to the local community center where Pastor Santo has been going to help build these relationships as well as a bridge from this area of AC to the church.
About 40 children took part in the Christmas celebration, while the remaining children will receive their gifts during this week. There were lots of home made goodies for the children to eat, songs were sung and a brief message on the life of Jesus was given. The children, some in their mid-teens, were so respectful and thankful for their gifts. One little boy was so touched by the message that was given […how Jesus left his riches in heaven to become poor and dwell with mankind, and that in His poverty as a human gave Himself for us so that we could be saved from our sins. He summed it up by saying that once we have Jesus, no matter how rich or poor we are, we always have something to give]. At the end of his message a little boy jumped up, ran home and came back with one of his trucks that he joyfully gave to one of the volunteer’s little son. That was beautiful to see!
Merry Christmas!
