Blog entry from Rachel C: “She is right where she needs to be.” This was a thought that I had to myself while looking at a team member. We were both serving at a soup kitchen that day. Everyone else had jumped in line to help serve food and move boxes, but she sat down at a table and started talking to someone and soon learned their story. As I looked on, I couldn’t help but smile.

I think that as Christians it’s easy, especially on missions trips, to get caught up in everyday busyness. We can be like Martha, often missing the opportunities that God has placed right in front of us. Until that moment it hadn’t crossed my mind that I may need to slow down and simply sit at the feet of Jesus.

Throughout the rest of the week, I continued to be in awe of the gifts that God has provided His team with…

From August 10-16th I had the privilege of leading a team of nine people in Atlantic City. This was Step of Faith Ministries’ 13th time sending a team to partner with New City Fellowship Church! Here are a few highlights:

We were able to return to Carver Hall again! We did a three-day Bible Club each night with the kids that consisted of worship, skits, and crafts. Since we have been going to Carver Hall for the past several years, we have been able to see many of these kids grow up. A lot of them know each of us by name.

We are also noticing more and more parents standing nearby watching and listening to everything that was going on. We are there just as much for the parents as we are for the kids. Some of our team members were able to engage in some great conversations with the adults. Please pray for the seeds that were planted throughout the week!

Two of our team members, Matt and Brina, brought their two-month-old son Levi with them. He definitely breaks the record for our youngest (and cutest) team member we have had so far!

We were also supposed to have another team join us for the week. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, the team was unable to come down. Fortunately for us, their team leader Kaity still decided to join us. It was a privilege getting to serve with Kaity the whole week. Kaity’s love for serving and her joyful spirit made her a pleasure to be around. She even presented the gospel to the kids at Carver Hall every night.

Every year Pastor Pete has us do a community development workshop, where two groups find a problem in their community and come up with a solution. This year’s workshop was led by none other than Pam’s nephew, Noah, a four-year veteran of this trip!

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support throughout this trip!

Thank you to the SOFM Board! This simply would not be possible without all of you.

Thank you Pastor Pete, Allison, and New City Fellowship for your hospitality, your love for Jesus and making the community a better place.

Thank you especially to all the team members this year. Thank you for being willing to go outside of your comfort zone all for the purpose of showing others the love of Jesus.

Of course, thank you to Miss Pam! Thank you for teaching me how to lead the team and for modeling what a Godly leader looks like.

And thank you Jesus for another great trip!

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am looking forward to seeing all that God has in store!

His Servant,

Rachel C.

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen – 1 Timothy 1:17
