For 6 days a team of 10, nicknamed the “A” Team, served the people of the Atlantic City area with a ‘flexible & pioneering’ spirit! Step of Faith Ministry and Calvary Presbyterian Church partnered again this year with New City Fellowship Church and together accomplished a lot in a short amount of time.
Pastor Santo started our days with worship and devotion that helped us to stay focused on the Lord throughout the day. Each day we had a different speaker who shared the vision of NCF and their partner ministry, Hope for Atlantic City. Teaching us about mercy ministry and increasing our awareness for multi-cultural living was a blessing that we all took home with us.
Throughout the week we worked on various projects that included spackling and taping, insulation and drop ceilings in a church as well as painting and construction at a couple of homes.
For 3 nights we went to Brigantine Homes Apartment complex and shared the good news of Jesus with the children of that community. On our final day, we were blessed to take some of the children from the Bible Camp to the beach. This was a wonderful time to ask the children about their faith in Jesus.
One of the biggest blessings for me personally was knowing that last year’s team took home with them the excitement to ‘duplicate’ what was going on in AC, closer to home. By February of this year we were at the Maple Leaf Apartments in Brick starting an afterschool tutoring program. Our connection with the community of Maple Leaf continues to bear fruit through our summer events that included dance classes, art classes, oil changes and a 5 day Vacation Bible School.
Our involvement with the Maple Leaf Community blesses the leadership of NCF and Hope for Atlantic City, as they see how God is expanding the vision and ministry up here in our backyard!
Please consider joining our team next summer in AC!
