Haiti Medical Clinic Update

It will be two weeks this Sunday since the team reached Haiti and the journey to put the medical clinic together began.

While they had a bit of a slow start [the clinic didn’t get to the property until Wednesday] according to Kyle, the engineer from Hospitals of Hope, this small team far exceeded his expectations.  The team finished securing the exterior of the clinic in only a couple days and since then they have continued to prepare the clinic in many ways.

Ditches have been dug and electrical have been wired and cemented in the generator house. They have cleaned the interior of the units and stocked shelves with medical supplies. All the air-conditioners are also secure inside of steal cages, painted  and welded onto the units. And I believe the septic work has also begun.

At Sunday’s church service, under the mango trees on the property, each team member had the opportunity to speak to those in attendance. I heard it was a very emotional time for all.

Today they finish up their ‘punch list’ and pack up for their journey home tomorrow. They will leave Haiti in the early afternoon to travel back to Santiago, DR and arrive back at JFK around midnight.

Once the team returns we will hear more complete details. They have certainly been used by the Lord to bring much needed medical to this small town of Lac’ajue. Soon, in the New Year, medical teams will begin to go down.

When skeptics say, “nothing gets done in Haiti,” they now can look at this medical clinic and realize that while it may be more challenging, the Lord is faithful and He answers the prayers of His people. This clinic will be a reminder of God’s faithfulness and a beacon of hope for many generations to come.

Until next time…
