Celebrating 13 years at the Maple Leaf Tutoring Program!

“If you are going to start something, be ready not to give up” – Pastor Santo

That statement never left me from the moments we were making the decision to start the tutoring program at the Maple Leaf Apartments in Brick in 2012. Followed by the realization from the (then) secretary at ML, Stacey, that many have come into the neighborhood to start something for the kids, but left almost as quickly, leaving the kids to believe no one would stay around long enough with them. But God had other plans for these kids, along with the many volunteers who have served since 2012.

We just finished our 13th season with our kiddos and this year proved to be another blessing for both the kids and the volunteers. With the “invite only” approach still in affect, from October until June, we grew from 10 to 17 students while finishing the year with 6 volunteers who came weekly throughout the year. Understanding that life changes, our volunteers decreased from about 10 to 6, however, God used us to continue to show the love of Jesus each week through sports and games / a bible lesson / homework / and dinner and dessert.

A BIG thank you to Rich & Amy Brecka with Shore Fresh Restaurants for supplying dinner 2 weeks out of the month this year! And our dear friend Josephine, for sharing a variety of crafts throughout the year.

Our last two weeks of the program were special, with a visit from our friend Sam, with her ice cream truck and then our “class trip” to Allaire Community Farm in Wall! Thank you Sean & JoAnn Burney for blessing these kids with an amazing time! I haven’t seen them smile this much and this big ever! As our youngest student (going into 1st grade) said to our volunteer Tom… “I want to stay here.” That says it all!

We are always looking for more volunteers so we can invite in more students. If you are interested in volunteering weekly, monthly, or when you can… watch for an email in August highlighting the new school year and when we will be having our volunteer meeting before starting in October.

Thanks to all who have shared the love of Jesus with these children! It is definitely worth it!!

Thankful for Bundles of Blessings – ALBANIA

Since 2020 Step of Faith has been sending $1200 a month to Hands of Providence Albania where Pastor Plator and his staff have been delivering food bundles to 25 families throughout the villages that surround Libonik (where their main church is). In America we can easily take for granted how easy it can be to go to the grocery store, charge our food bill on a credit card if we need to and keep an abundance of food in our pantry.

However, in a country like Albania this is not a typical situation. For many, food is scarce due to lack of a job or family to help bring in an income. Through the Bundles of Blessing program, 25 families can count on receiving an assortment of non-perishable food items that can provide a month’s worth of food for their family. With Denis heading up this program, elderly have been found, who were living in horrible situations and now have not only food to sustain them, but the love of Christians to pour into their lives.

When Jesus speaks about helping “the least of these” we can think of the many who live on or below the poverty level, and how Bundles of Blessings is helping change lives, one food bundle at a time.

Our next 3 months of support will go July 1st. If you would like to help, you can go to the Home Page at the top and click on:

Please join us as we continue to pray for God’s provision “for the least of these”
