One of the most difficult things over the past 4 years has been the lack of travel to Haiti to see our friends and families that many of us have grown to love for over 15 years. With the lack of government and continuing gang violence, traveling there is still not recommended. However, our friends continue to persevere through their daily trials and difficulties relying on Jesus, the only One who can take care of their needs and who they can trust to get them through another day!

SOFM is thankful to have continuing contact with our friends in both the PAP area and in Ouanaminthe and Lac’ajue. Sometimes daily conversations take place between Pam and those on the ground there. Updates, prayer requests and needs are discussed as well as encouraging words shared. Ironically, our friends in Haiti tell us here in the states how they are praying for us!

Since 2010 SOFM has provided a BEACH DAY for those students who graduate from their current grade to the next. An incentive that Joseph Israel (Aslan’s Director in Haiti) told us would help the children to focus on doing well throughout the school year. With many children going to school who have parents who have never been in school, it is difficult for some of them to receive encouragement from home. 

While we do not have a team going down again this summer, many of us have fond memories of the bus rides to the beach and the afternoon with over 100 students playing and swimming, singing and laughing, as they spend just one day outside of their otherwise difficult routine in their small town of Lac’ajue.

The support needed for such a day is about $900. SOFM always wants to make the need known so that others can become a part of the joy of giving this special day to so many children in need.

This one day, once a year celebration, is something these children will never forget. Thank you for considering partnering with us and supporting them to go to the beach.
