Hello Everyone,
The pictures above are from our Shoes for Haiti collection that has taken place each year since 2008. The first picture was taken in 2009, while the pictures of the children are from our most recent shipment that just arrived a few weeks ago at Hope for Haiti Children Center in Ouanaminthe, Haiti.
When I asked Danita, in 2008, what her greatest need was (outside of food/water and medical) she said without hesitation “Shoes!” The average child will go through a pair of new shoes in 4-6 months. This is due mainly from all the walking and playing that is done.
Shoes are so important in Haiti. Walking around without can lead to diseases. We are so blessed to be able to help the children at Danita’s orphanage each year.
For those who ask, “Do donations actually get to those who need them in Haiti?” The answer is “YES!!” Along with the yearly shoe collection, our nutrition supplements also arrive safely at Danita’s orphanage, and the children and staff are very grateful.
If you would like to help with future shoe collections and/or nutrition supplements, please go to our GET INVOVLED page and let us know.
Just One Drop,
Pam
