We are happy to share that one of our students who was highlighted as Student of the Month in January is now sponsored! Ricardo Gelens Bien-Aime now has a sponsor thanks to one of our supporters. Many, many thanks for providing this life-changing education for him!

Our second student highlighted in January, 6 year-old Jeandlie E Taika Louireste, is still in need of sponsorship as is our new February student; 8 year-old Ruben Vertus. Both students attend school at Double Harvest, outside of Port-au-Prince. Please see their pictures above.

Education in Haiti is life changing. Unlike the mindset of some students in America, children in Haiti eagerly desire to be in school. School is not free, it comes at a huge cost. School is not taken for granted, if provided, it is looked upon as one of the highest privileges that a child can receive. Without it, children wind up on the streets begging, being sold into slavery or  even worst. Education provides a future and a hope for the child, the family and the country.

[the following information was given in our Student of the Month blog in January]

…For over 10 years Step of Faith Ministry has been involved with Education Sponsorships throughout Haiti. Our students attend school in the Ounaminthe and Port-au-Prince area. Currently,  25 (now 24) of our 65 students are  in need of a sponsor. With your help, we hope to provide personal sponsorships for all 65 students.

Along with receiving a Christian education on the grounds of Double Harvest, these children also receive their books, uniform, a hot meal each day and medical attention when needed. Our partnership with Double Harvest, through education, is helping to change the future of Haiti. Through this education sponsorship, these children have the opportunity to become the leaders of tomorrow.

To provide all the above mentioned, the cost is $540 for a one-year sponsorship. SOFM also has a partial sponsorship of $375 if a sponsor is unable to provide the full amount. Or another way to sponsor the full amount could be by sharing a child with a couple of families.
